The One Journey

1. The Rabbi Story

Intro to the ONE Journey: Who are you? What are you doing here? The ONE Journey is really about these two questions. Understand how these questions will be discovered and uncovered throughout the Journey. A forgiveness practice and Genesis 1-3 are foundational to this process.

2. Let There Be Light

The foundational declaration of Stage 1 is: let there be light! The Spirit of God created all of life through these foundational words. You and I are made to live in the light because we are made of light. A reading from Colossians 1. Explore what it means to think we are alienated from God. How do we process our thought life? How do we share in the thoughts of God? Bring your questions and come as you are!

3. Forgiveness

Every stage of the One Journey includes the core practice of Forgiveness. It brings true freedom and authenticity to your life. How can we practice forgiveness easily in bite size pieces everyday and why would we want to?

4. Guided Forgiveness Practice

A “How to” guided forgiveness exercise. Ask Jesus who it would help you to forgive. Ask Jesus to help you make a list of what is owed. Ask Jesus to help you and let Jesus pay. Release the person, group or situation from your judgment, entrusting them to the one just judge.

5. So Many Voices

Our minds are constantly processing information and input. Our brains are the main communication center of our bodies. God is speaking and the processing of that communication will happen in your thoughts/mind. How can we discern the difference between random thoughts and the still small voice of God?

6. Brain Dump

An exercise in processing thoughts with God. This will help you regardless of where you find yourself today. If you are deep in thought, distracted, triggered, clear minded - it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you show up honest for this practice.

7. God's voice sounds like love and life

The foundational keys to recognize the voice of God. Paying attention to what comes to the screen of your mind after you turn your attention to Jesus is a practice to cultivate. God’s voice always comes from love: the root and fruit of God’s voice will always be love. It is life-giving, not fear producing.

8. Hearing God is like breathing

Your breath is a great example of how near God is to you right now. You breathe automatically whether you try to or not. You can also pay attention to your breath and choose to take deeper or more shallow breaths. That’s just like hearing God! It happens when you aren’t aware, but you can lean in and engage with God’s voice too.

9. Distractions will actually help you hear God

Don’t dismiss your distractions! Instead, engage God in conversation where you are - meaning you can share exactly what you’re thinking (good, bad or ugly) with the Source of all life, God. Practice engaging dialogue with God through distraction rather than deciding that you are distracted. Your thoughts are always an invitation into connection with God.

10. Nothing is never nothing

What do you do when you are trying to hear God and nothing comes!? Cayce helps us see that “nothing” is never not anything. The trick is to describe nothing. How does it feel? What does it tell you? What else is coming to mind about not getting anything? You can easily recognize the “something” that’s always there in the middle of nothing.

11. Getting Past Blocks

Feeling blocked or stuck is a real thing! Who hasn’t felt that at times? Here’s your “How to” on getting unstuck and moving past what seems like a blockage. Most of the time being stuck is actually very helpful - it’s highlighting something for us. If we can lean in and see what God is highlighting, you are in for some real breakthrough. Recognize the difference between a block and choosing to stop.

12. Reminder: Everyone can hear God

Really? Everyone can hear God? Yes! Hearing is built into human life. You have heard, you can hear and you will. You are not the only person who can’t - don’t worry! This stage is all about discovering that you already do hear God’s voice - it is sustaining your life - it is the light of your life. You can, you will, you have - that’s what’s real about the voice of God.

13. Review, How to Hear God Now

The key is tuning in to your thoughts and processing your thoughts. This is easy and only takes a few seconds but learning how easy it is can be hard! You can engage with God because God is with you, always. Turn your attention to what “is” rather than staying in the un-reality that you are alone. You are not in a monologue up there in your thoughts - it’s the realm of dialogue!

14. Forgiving God

Do we need to forgive God? Is that weird? Yes and no. You might find this conversation and practice helpful! As a child of the Creator - we have often misunderstood and not known certain things, just like kids do - let Jesus speak to you and bring healing in areas where you have experienced hurt - especially if it’s linked to your view of God.
